Christian Warrior: An Idea Whose Time Has Come, 2

Continued from "Christian Warrior: An Idea Whose Time Has Come"

On my WARSKYL blog, I have written about the Christian warrior's calling as a sheepdog. I hope to address that concept here at Christian Warrior Online, but for now I just want to point out two characteristics of a Christian warrior/sheepdog that make his calling crucial at this time.
  1. The sheepdog guards the flock. Whether the flock consists of  his family, his church or his neighborhood, he assumes responsibility for their safety from violent attack or other harm. The sheepdog acts on behalf of the shepherd in the interest of the sheep. I don't think it's much of stretch to say that the human sheepdog's responsibility includes protecting the flock from false doctrine and the lies of the prevailing godless society.
  2. The sheepdog guides the flock. He drives them toward the goal determined by the shepherd, and he expends a lot of effort to keep individual sheep from going astray. For this reason, the human sheepdog needs a clear understanding of and a wholehearted commitment to the mission assigned to the flock by the Great Shepherd.
At this critical juncture in history, we need men who heed the Great Shepherd's call to guard and guide those for whom God has given them responsibility. The Christian warrior must shoulder the totality of this responsibility because the enemy wages total warfare against Christ and His people.

To be continued . . .
