Whose Side Are You On?

• Last year, U.S. forces backed Islamist extremist factions -- linked to al Qaeda -- and destabilized Libya to overthrew Muammar Qaddafi. (Al Qaeda Members' Role in Libyan Command)
• On 9/11, the al Qaeda-backed faction directed the attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya. They killed the ambassador. (Al Qaeda's Libya Vengeance Plot)
• So, now the U.S. military is hunting them down (Drones May Play a Role in Hunting Down . . .)
• But the U.S. also backs the al Qaeda efforts to overthrow Assad in Syria (Al Qaeda Leader Urges Support) (Obama Authorizes Secret U.S. Support for Syrian Rebels)
• It's okay, because before we were for them, we were against them . . .
• But before that, we were for them . . . 
• But before that . . . . 

Anyone else getting a headache? This foolishness has gone on through Republican and Democratic administrations. 

Al Qaeda first came about as a project of the CIA. Some observers think that the spooks have never relinquished control. They used the terrorist organization to further their aims in Bosnia and Kosovo (See here). 

QUESTION: "Who benefits from all this?" ANSWER: The factions among the Establishment who entertain a globalist vision: the New World Order.

QUESTION REPHRASED: "Who profits every time our military fires a round, drops a bomb or launches a new plane?" ANSWER: The military industrial complex along with the financiers tied to it. In his farewell address, President Eisenhower warned America of the dangers inherent in its existence.

Evangelicals tend to back the U.S. military unquestioningly. They do not seem to understand that you can hold our troops in high esteem even if you do not support the insanely reckless policies that put them in harm's way.

Christian Warriors risk this attitude, as well. We have a natural affinity for the warriors who represent our nation overseas. We loathe the idea that honorable men and women could be tools of a profit-seeking internationalist elite. 

No matter how hideous we find that concept, however, we must face the fact that, at its highest levels, military policy and deployment intertwines with the program and goals of those who seek undo our faith and merge us into a global humanist dictatorship.

The bottom line is this: If you uncritically support American troop deployment overseas, you will find yourself in support of terrorist organizations like al Qaeda more often than you might like to think.

SitRep: Critical

The good news is that authorities released Brandon Raub from confinement in a psychiatric hospital  in response to a judge's order. The bad news is that his case represents the tip of the iceberg.

John Whitehead, director of the Rutherford Institute and Raub's attorney, says that since the publicity over this case, he has received calls from veterans' groups across the country:

Whitehead said that veterans have since been contacting him from across the country claiming they too were victims of wrongful detention in psychiatric institutes like Raub.
He added,

There’s about 20,000 civil commitments alone in Virginia each year. (Article in The Blaze)

In another recent case, Scranton police arrested a Christian talk show host, and he ended up in a mental health facility where the doctors diagnosed him as psychotic, thereby depriving him of his right to own firearms. Douglas Hagman of the Northeast Intelligence Network reports:

In short, Mr. Egroff was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility for evaluation due to his pro-Christian yet non-threatening religious views opposing those of the Obama regime. Of course, that’s not the official psychiatric diagnosis given to him, but after an extensive investigation into the events leading up to and following his evaluation, it might as well be. What was uncovered in subsequent investigations involving other “patients,” I am convinced that the common element in all similar cases is one’s Christian beliefs when combined with a vocal opposition to Obama agenda. I’m also convinced we’ve identified their playbook.

Further research into this tactic left me both surprised and shaken to the core. My findings have determined that the situation involving Mr. Egroff is not an isolated case, but one of a growing and effective tactic currently being used to silence the Christian “watchmen” in the U.S. The victims of these tactics are not fanatical, they do not advocate violence, and certainly do not represent any threat to themselves or others. Their common “crime” is that they believe in the Word of God, the Holy Bible, and vocally identify the transgressions of our current government as they relate to the Bible and Scripture. To the Obama regime, this has obviously become a dangerous political threat.

We can clearly see the police state closing its tentacles around the liberties of its people as it steps up its efforts to silence opposing views. I have previously documented the construction and logistical readiness of federal detention camps, the training of the military for deployment against the American populace and the purchase of about a billion-and-a-half (and counting) rounds of ammunition by DHS alone. (Note: The military has expended about "only" 70 million rounds a year in the war in Iraq.)

Federal authorities have put out bulletins to state and local law enforcement agencies that identify returning veterans, Ron Paul supporters, 9-11 truthers, Christian Reconstructionists, and Tea Party people as terrorists. In other words, they have targeted us as the enemy.

During his interview with Glen Beck, Attorney Whitehead mentioned that we live in a total surveillance society. He maintains that authorities can monitor any private conversation or communication  and use it as grounds to "disappear" you into some psychiatric hospital.

In response to that, my wife reminded me of a passage in the book Tomorrow Will Be Better, an account of one family's struggle during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia:

It is hard to describe what it was like to live under circumstances where every detail, every adt, and every word might suddenly cause one's death. Fear can destroy one's sense of proportion. (p. 130)

At this juncture, we need to close ranks. We need to have each others' backs, and we need to rise up in indignation just as so many did for Brandon Raub. 

Be willing to stand with those who are willing to stand alone.

To Tell the Players . . .

. . . you need a scorecard.

Remember when al Qaeda was the enemy? The rationale for invading Iraq and Afghanistan? Remember?

That was before the U.S. backed an al Qaeda faction in Libya to overthrow 1970's dictator bogeyman, Muammar Qaddafi. Now, al Qaeda insurgents in Syria are heroes.

Ed Husain has written an article published on the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) site. He says,

The Syrian rebels would be immeasurably weaker today without al-Qaeda in their ranks. By and large, Free Syrian Army (FSA) battalions are tired, divided, chaotic, and ineffective. Feeling abandoned by the West, rebel forces are increasingly demoralized as they square off with the Assad regime's superior weaponry and professional army. Al-Qaeda fighters, however, may help improve morale. The influx of jihadis brings discipline, religious fervor, battle experience from Iraq, funding from Sunni sympathizers in the Gulf, and most importantly, deadly results. In short, the FSA needs al-Qaeda now.

This is significant because the CFR has directed U.S. foreign policy since the end of WWII. Isn't it interesting how al Qaeda started out as a CIA client to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan, then they transformed into the specter of worldwide terrorism, and now they're the good guys, again.

Husain says that the U.S. will deal with al Qaeda after the overthrow of Syria's Assad.

Well, if al Qaeda no longer occupies the center of attention in the war on terrorism, who replaced them? If you read Christian Warrior Online regularly, you have displaced them as the greatest threat.

A faculty member of the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth has produced a paper in which he lays out U.S. military strategy for suppressing Tea Party insurgents. Unbelievable? Read the scenario he spins in this excerpt:

The Great Recession of the early twenty-first century lasts far longer than anyone anticipated. After a change in control of the White House and Congress in 2012, the governing party cuts off all funding that had been dedicated to boosting the economy or toward relief. The United States economy has flatlined, much like Japan’s in the 1990s, for the better part of a decade. By 2016, the economy shows signs of reawakening, but the middle and lower-middle classes have yet to experience much in the way of job growth or pay raises. Unemployment continues to hover perilously close to double digits, small businesses cannot meet bankers’ terms to borrow money, and taxes on the middle class remain relatively high. A high-profile and vocal minority has directed the public’s fear and frustration at nonwhites and immigrants. After almost ten years of race-baiting and immigrant-bashing by right-wing demagogues, nearly one in five Americans reports being vehemently opposed to immigration, legal or illegal, and even U.S.-born nonwhites have become occasional targets for mobs of angry whites.

In May 2016 an extremist militia motivated by the goals of the “tea party” movement takes over the government of Darlington, South Carolina, occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council, and placing the mayor under house arrest. Activists remove the chief of police and either disarm local police and county sheriff departments or discourage them from interfering. In truth, this is hardly necessary. Many law enforcement officials already are sympathetic to the tea party’s agenda, know many of the people involved, and have made clear they will not challenge the takeover. The militia members are organized and have a relatively well thought-out plan of action. ("Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future")

The Establishment denies that the armed forces are training to suppress Americans, to seize private firearms, to arrest and detain those who oppose tyranny. (See here and here)  But this document shows that this is part of the policy and planning process within the military establishment.

The War at Its Core

The Christian Warrior prepares himself to battle evil in all its various forms. He trains to defend himself and his loved ones from the orcs in society who would do them harm.

In all this, it's good to remember that, at its core, the war we fight arises from conflicts in the realm of the spirit. We fight because we acknowledge the Lordship of Christ and His Royal Law as the true and only basis for a peaceful and productive society.

For some decades now, the enemy has waged a campaign against God and His Word in the denomination to which I now belong. Yesterday, a fellow soldier in this fight published an open letter I wrote about the matter.j

A certain search engine company which I shall not name (but it starts with "G" and rhymes with frugal), has a new policy that discriminates against any products related to firearms. The internet giant has a rep for manipulating results of unapproved searches and censoring websites unfriendly to the liberal establishment.


Today, they routed an email critical of their company directly to my spam folder. The email contained a link to the news article about the company's new antigun policy.


A coincidence? I think not.

Our Next President

A Baptist preacher acquaintance of mine has changed his tune. In the 2000 election, he sent out email broadsides that proclaimed anyone who did not vote for George Bush was doing nothing to save America.

Yesterday on Facebook, he said he would vote for Romney in hopes that he would carry America to hell more slowly than Obama. His tune has changed from a major key to a minor one . . .

. . . but his behavior remains the same.

Now, let's examine some of the stark differences between the two candidates.

• President Obama bailed out the big banks at taxpayer expense/Romney praised Bush for doing the same thing;
• President Obama says he can wage war without Congressional approval/ Romney says the same thing;
• President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act which -- at his insistence -- included authorization to detain American citizens indefinitely/ Romney says he would have signed the act, as well;
• President Obama championed socialized medicine with Obamacare/as governor of Massachussets, Romney put a nearly identical healthcare program into effect.

Now that I've brought the contrast between the two candidates into bold relief, the choice should seem obvious: "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

Gang Attack Results in Victim's Death

Here's the scene:

A 48-year-old man --an architect -- and his wife, on the way home from a Bible study have an accident because the man suffers a diabetic attack.

Sadly, some gang members arrive on the scene and take advantage of the situation. Ignoring his medical condition, they beat the man mercilessly and subjected him to torture before relieving him of his wallet. He died at the scene.

The rest of the story:

Who did this to the man? Was it members of Hell's Angels, or Crips or Bloods or some other street gang? No, this gang wore police uniforms.

They beat him with their batons and subjected him needlessly to the torture of tasers and pepper spray.

Here's the story as reported by Courthouse News:

Johnson suffered a diabetic attack sometime after 8:15 p.m. that night, after calling a friend to tell him he was leaving his Bible class, according to the complaint in Baltimore County Court.

He suffered a diabetic attack, crashed on the I-795, and his car came to rest against the guardrail in the median near the merger with I-695.

According to the complaint, when State Trooper Davon Parker arrived and tapped on the window, and Johnson managed to lower the window, Parker pepper sprayed him in the face.

Johnson then got out of his car and Parker clubbed him at least once in the knee. Defendant Officer Loss (fnu) then arrived and whacked Johnson at least twice with his club, the complaint states.

Baltimore County Police Officer Nicholas Wolferman then arrived, whacked Johnson "at least three times" with his own baton, then he and Officer Loss "grabbed Mr. Johnson and threw him over the guardrail," Johnson's widow says.

She claims the very first officer on the scene knew or should have known that her husband was suffering from a medical problem.

Nonetheless, after throwing him over the guardrail, the cops applied pressure points to his ears and armpits, she says. Three more cops arrived, including Baltimore County Officer Andrew O'Neill, who Tasered Johnson twice. Officer Loss then punched him in the face and the six officers managed to handcuff him, the widow says.

Eight more cops arrived, and someone took his wallet, which included a medical alert card about his diabetes. Nonetheless, the cops forcibly held him down, though he was not resisting, and was handcuffed, his wife says.

"Upon information and belief, there were approximately 52 individuals that responded to the scene," according to the complaint.

The widow claims Johnson was Tasered at least three times, while he was lying on his back, helpless, surrounded by police. He became "motionless and speechless" and was pronounced dead within an hour of cardiac arrest.

He was the 10th person to die since 2004 after being subjected to police electroshock in Maryland, the Baltimore Sun reported in a story about Johnson's death.
Christian commentator Gary North wryly observes:

In earlier, more innocent days, the first trooper to arrive would have taken the man to a hospital. But that was then. This is now. First, start with pepper sprtay when he rolls down the car window. If he gets out of the car club him. Is he refuses to get back into the car, it’s taser time. That will do the trick. Usually.

If not, do it again until he stops moving.
Thirty years ago, I recognized the us-them mentality displayed by some police officers. Over the next couple of decades it seemed to become even more common.

Since 9/11, however, the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies have fanned the flames of hysteria among the nation's police departments. More and more, they seem to view the general public as the enemy.

In Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia, the police became tools of arbitrary power. Instead of protecting the people from criminals, they saw their mission as protecting their criminal government from citizens.

So sad that we seem to be moving in the same direction. Kudos to those officers who serve as salt and light in the midst of political corruption and administrative darkness.

"Honest" Politician Admits She Lied to Get Elected

You want the truth? You can't handle the truth. (Jack Nicholson's character in A Few Good Men)

That's basically what Mayor McShurley of Muncie Indiana told constituents in an interview. She pretty much summed up the whole political situation, local state and national.

What Would You Give . . .

Coming Soon to Electronic Devices Near You: Big Brother's Watchful Eye

I read George Orwell's 1984 way back in the early 1960's. It was one of the books that helped turned me into a lifelong opponent of statism.

(Some of the other influential material that I read in my youth included John Noble's I Was a Slave in Soviet Russia and its companion volume, I Found God in Soviet Russia, as well as Frederic Bastiat's The Law and a potpourri of material from the Christian Anti Communism Crusade & Carl McIntyre's organization.)

It was 1984 that contributed the term "Big Brother" to our vocabulary. In the novel, Big Brother was the charismatic leader of the nation who exercised total control and demanded total devotion. In popular parlance, it came to refer to any statist system that seeks to subdue the individual to its control.

I remember one scene in Orwell's novel where protagonist Winston Smith sat in a small nook of his apartment, the only place not covered by the ubiquitous surveillance cameras that spied on everyone, everywhere. As he sat there, a small drone helicopter came and hovered outside the window, reminding him that he was not safe anywhere from the party's prying eyes.

In addition, the ruling power had plastered posters everywhere with the admonition, "Big Brother is Watching You." By the time I finished reading it, the story had impressed on my psyche the dangers of the state's ever expanding tendency to monitor its citizens.

Evidently, at this point of time, I'm part of a minority. So many of my fellow-citizens seem either unaware or unmoved by recent news about the expansion of the surveillance state.

Here are just a few items that show me that Orwell's nightmare is coming true in America, today:

• The FBI has admitted tracking visitors to a preparedness website
• This administration is about to complete the Bush plan that will enable the National Security Administration to collect and store data on anyone, anywhere.
• CIA touts ability to read all your connected electronic devices
• Facial recognition technology can now be used in conjunction with the multitude of surveillance cameras
• The possibility that new HD televisions will also be used to spy on their users
• Some jurisdictions in this country have already started to use spy drones
• New policy allows feds to store intelligence data on citizens with no terrorist ties

If you happen to find that little nook in your home that Big Brother can't yet peer into, it might be a good idea to keep quiet about it.

1984 -- Are we there yet? 

Humanitarian Invasion of Uganda

Earlier this year, U.S. policymakers gave aid & cover for Libyan insurgents in a humanitarian move to put control of that nation's government in the hands of a branch of Al Qaeda. Now elitists want another humanitarian military intervention -- this time in Uganda.

It seems that Joseph Kony,  a small-time Ugandan warlord, has murdered some 2,400 people and conscripted some 3,400 youth into his private army. Last year, President Obama sent military advisors to Uganda to help the government deal with this travesty.

Now, a trendy liberal video has gone viral that calls for the U.S. to do more to see this criminal arrested and tried before an international tribunal. (See here)

Okay, Kony is a bad guy. I get that. He's a blight on humanity.

But let's put this in perspective. For years now, Muslims have attacked & killed many thousands of African Christians in Sudan (See here) and Nigeria (See here). One source cites a million African Christians killed by Islamists in the 20th Century. (To see source, CLICK HERE)

Or, how about U.N. troops that have been involved in murder and rape going back as far as the 1960's? (See here and here)

Why this sudden interest in a local Ugandan gangster when much greater atrocities abound? Perhaps the  following news item from last year will shed some light on the question:

It looks as though elitists whose hearts figuratively bleed for the downtrodden of the Middle East (and who have sent young Americans to bleed literally) have now decided that it's worth the sacrifice of more American lives to relieve the plight of Uganda.

Beware the iPhone Snitch App

Anyone who has paid any attention at all to releases from DHS & the FBI realizes that the establishment has an agenda-driven view of what constitutes potential terrorism. Recent pronouncements against the dangers of "homegrown" terrorism include warnings against Christians who actually believe the Bible, those who oppose murdering unborn infants, people who believe in limited civil government, returning war vets, people who think public officials should obey the Constitution they've sworn to "preserve, protect and defend", gun owners, people who pay for merchandise/services with cash, people who buy night flashlights (as opposed to flashlights designed to be used in daylight?), etc. (For more indicators of terrorism, CLICK HERE)

The FBI has a whole series of fliers that describe these activities and encourage citizens to report those who exhibit said behavior. Now, however, the feds have devised a way to make it even easier for us to spy on each other: the iPhone spy app.

There is a new cell phone application. It allows anyone with a smart phone to record anything suspicious and send it to the Department of Homeland Security.

There is a pilot program in West Virginia. It will spread.

Here is where it gets interesting. The DHS is using regional centers to collect and maintain this information. They are called Fusion Centers.

Ignore the Man Behind the Curtain

The wizard of Oz was a fraud who misrepresented himself through an audiovisual contrivance in order to maintain his political power. Could such a thing ever happen in real life?

Could men behind the curtain manipulate images and information to sway a whole nation to support their policies? To answer that question, think about how the majority of Americans have opposed the concept to a New World Order, and yet those same people have supported the military actions of the last several administrations that have served the ends of the NWO.

The Police State: Food Police & Psych Police

Two items today: federal agents -- food police -- inspect preschool lunchboxes; prepper sent for mental observation, loses right to own firearms.

Food Police

A North Carolina girl in preschool described as a picky eater wound up eating three chicken nuggets from a school lunch tray instead of the turkey & cheese sandwich, chips, banana and apple juice packed by her mom. Why? Because the food police declared the packed lunch unhealthy.

The USDA agent inspecting lunch boxes followed guidelines set down by Health and Human Services:

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs - including in-home day care centers - to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home. So, when do they start showing up at home educators' doors to inspect lunches?

Psych Police

If you're a prepper and vocal about it, be wary of visits to your physician. If he doesn't like your world and life view, there are laws on the books that allow him to change the course of your life and violate your God-given rights.

A Tennessee good ol' boy appeared on National Geographic TV in a report on the preparedness movement in America. Shortly after that, he visited a cardiologist with complaints of chest pains.

The M.D. diagnosed him with depression and committed him, against his will, to a mental institution for observation. As a result, the man lost his right to own firearms -- a key component of his prepping.

Gary North's comments on the case bring the absolute foolishness of the charge into focus:

His physician says he is suicidal. I see. He is spending time and money preparing for a life-threatening breakdown in society because he is suicidal. There is nothing like suicidal impulses to persuade someone to sacrifice present lifestyle for the future. (from The Tea Party Economist)

Before all this happened, this prepper made videos on preparedness for a number of youtube subscribers. If he seems a little depressed in the videos below, you have to understand that he made them after being kidnapped, falsely imprisoned, browbeaten by medical personnel and informed that the authorities no longer recognize his rights as "guaranteed" by the Constitution.




The U.S. police state has a great blueprint to follow. In the Soviet Union, the civil power routinely declared dissidents insane and committed them to institutions for treatment and re-education (i.e., torture and brainwashing)

This looks like another test case for the totalitarian statists.

Who Will Staff the Concentration Camps? -- 2

Last week, I blogged a post about the fact that Congress has passed a bill that puts its stamp of approval on the detainment of citizens without formal charges or trial for an indefinite period of time. (see here) Then I posted about how FEMA has begun to solicit bids to supply everything from food to fencing & barricades for its relocation camps. (see here)

In that second article, I stated that obedient American drones would staff the camps designed to intern their fellow citizens. The following National Guard ad reveals that recruitment and training of personnel is already underway.


The danger in doing away with due process lies in how the power brokers decide who is and is not a terrorist. Remember, not too long ago one state defined people who support non-establishment candidates like Ron Paul as "potential terrorists".


So, the wheels are in motion. It remains to be seen what event will serve as the pretext to round up of Americans and put them in camps. Also, we do not yet know exactly whom the powers that be will target first.

If you are a Christian who vocally opposes statist encroachments on your faith and your liberty, then you may be at risk. Oh wait . . . I forgot . . . it can't happen here.

And You Thought I Was Paranoid?

In Egypt, Muslims burn  Coptic churches & kill Christians. In any given nation of the Middle East, Islamists may murder converts to Christ without any fear of negative sanctions. 

In America, Christians have become the scapegoat for Leftist bigots. The latest example involves a Connecticut rabbi who thinks that a Tebow victory at the Superbowl will touch off rioting, mosque burning and the expulsion of immigrants from this country. If his views of Christianity arise out of early bad experiences  with nominal Christians, I'm sorry for him. If he has never crawled out of his hidey hole long enough to find out what Christians are really like, then it's his own fault that he happens to be one of the most paranoid people walking around loose.

Maybe Mel Gibson could hold out an olive branch to the Jewish community by producing a film based on this guy's life. He could call it "Conspiracy Theory, 2".

Who Will Staff the Concentration Camps?

In 2009, Congress passed a bill authorizing the construction of FEMA "emergency center" camps around the country. (see here) Last week, Congress passed a bill authorizing the military to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens without formal charges or trial. (see here)

This week, the U.S. gov't has taken steps that will make it possible to activate the camps on short notice. (see here) Who would staff such camps to imprison fellow Americans?

This video makes a powerful presentation of a concept that citizens inside and outside the Church need to hear. If you've ever had to make the choice between following orders or taking a lonely stand for what's right, then you know why simple and easy are not synonyms.

In the Python's Deadly Coils

Both in the wild and in captivity, pythons have killed human beings. If you handle one, you must take care not to let it begin to wrap its coils around your body, for once they do, they contract those coils and squeeze the breath from your body.


Last week, a number of news outlets informed Americans that the Senate's passage of the National Defense Appropriations Act (NDAA) slipped another deadly coil around the body politic. (see here and here)

Senator McCain, the author of the provision for indefinite detention of suspected terrorists without trial or formal charges confirmed that this provision would include American citizens. (see here) Again, realize that this means arrest and detention for any period of time on mere suspicion, without formal charges or a trial.

The president's threatens to veto the law, not because of its obvious violation of the Constitution, but because of a perceived curtailing of executive power:

In their current form, some of these provisions disrupt the Executive branch's ability to enforce the law and impose unwise and unwarranted restrictions on the U.S. Government's ability to aggressively combat international terrorism . . . . (Statement of Administration Policy)

Remember, this is the president who has acted on his public claim that he has the prerogative to assassinate American citizens without formal charges or trial. (see here)

In the wake of these events, FEMA yesterday announced its "National Preparedness System" which claims to centralize control of all society in an emergency:

“What makes this preparedness system unique is that it engages the whole community –individuals, businesses, community- and faith-based organizations, schools and all levels of government,” said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. “We recognize that the nation will be most prepared for threats and hazards when we work together.” (Cypress Times, see here)

And under the new guidelines, just about anything can constitute a national emergency (see Cypress Times article, op. cit.) Also, Alex Jones reports that FEMA is now taking bids to supply its emergency (detention?) camps. (see here and here).

The coils are there. Don't think everything is okay just because you don't feel the squeeze yet.

America's Pagan Establishment

Then said [God] unto me, "Son of man, dig now in the wall:" and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And He said unto me, "Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here." 


So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about. And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. 


Then said he unto me, "Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, 'The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.;" (Ezekiel 8:8-12)

Outwardly, the elders of Israel stood for God & country. But in the dark, they worshiped alien gods.

That was then, in Israel. This is now, in America.

As the sun begins to set in a secluded grove of trees, a sizable group of people gathers to behold a strange ritual. The centerpiece is a forty-foot shrine,  the image of an owl. Knowing spectators now focus on a particular tree.

Moments later an offstage chorus of "woodland voices" begins to sing.

Then a spotlight illuminates the tree . . . and there emerges from it a hamadryad, a "tree spirit," whose life, according to Greek mythology, is intimately bound up with the tree in which it lives. The hamadryad begins to sing, telling the supplicants that beauty and strength and peace are theirs as long as the trees of the Grove are there. It sings of the "temple-aisles of the wood" that are made for "your delight," and implores the [viewers] to "burn away the sorrows of yesterday" and to "cast your grief to the fires and be strong with the holy trees and the spirit of the Grove."[1]

A bit later in the ceremony, the high priest, in a cowled red robe stands before the image of the owl. He raises his hands and announces,

The Owl is in his leafy temple. Let all within the Grove be reverent before him.[2]

The owl was associated with the Roman goddess Minerva (counterpart to the Greek Athena). Minerva was the goddess of wisdom. This modern ritual makes the same connection between the owl and wisdom:

The high priest falls to his knees and lifts his arms toward the shrine. "O thou, great symbol of all mortal wisdom," he cries. "Owl of Bohemia, we do beseech thee, grant us thy counsel!"[3]

(The connection that various right wing conspiracy theorists make between the owl and Moloch seems to contain more imagination than verifiable historical research.)

As the ritual unfolds, it becomes clear that the drama is a metaphor. It represents the setting aside of the cares and responsibilities of everyday life in order to fully embrace what is to come next.

What immediately follows this demonstration of pagan nature worship is a period of drunken carousing pursued with moral abandon. It outdoes the Saturnalia, which lasted only seven days. This festival will go on for a little over two weeks.

From Biblical times nature worshipers have favored groves for their rituals and immoral pursuits. But the foregoing ceremony does not come from some musty archive that details the disgusting practices of ancient peoples. This ritual originated in California in 1893.

A private, all-male organization of 2300 members -- with a 33 year waiting list -- has gathered annually for this event ever since. You may think that this organization represents a fringe group of social outcasts. Are they some obscure neo-pagan religion, perhaps, or some satanic cult?

Then you find out that the participants revel in ओpen public urination, and that this seems to carry some symbolic phallic significance. Also, you discover that there is a strong homoerotic theme to the event's activities. You conclude that this group, which originated in San Francisco, is an organization of West Coast homosexuals expressing their contempt for God and social propriety.

That conclusion is entirely logical, but mostly wrong. The membership represents the major power brokers on the American scene. You can find corporate executives, investment bankers, military leaders (including members of the joint chiefs of staff) and politicians (including past and would-be US presidents) filling their ranks. They call themselves the Bohemian Club.

The Club owns 2,700 acres of redwood forest in California where, in mid-July, they hold the annual ceremony to kick off two weeks of immorality. Sociologist G. William Domhoff describes the aftermath of the pagan ritual:

As this climax approaches, some fifty minutes after the march began, the quiet onlookers on the other side of the lake begin to come alive. After all, it is a night for rejoicing. The men begin to shout, to sing, to hug each other, and dance around. They have been freed by their priests and their Owl for some good old-fashioned hell raising.[4]

Domhoff, however, writes the ritual off as a "harmless put-on" which members do not take all that seriously. The question for Biblical believers is whether the God we worship takes such ceremonies seriously. The Book of Numbers, chapter 25, indicates that He does.

In the year 2000, right-wing journalist Alex Jones infiltrated the Bohemian Grove and videoed the ceremony I have described. As noted above, I do not agree with some of his interpretations & conclusions, including the sensationalist suggestion that babies are being burned in sacrifice. The ceremony itself, however, should give any Christian something to think about regarding his national political & business leaders.

For three generations, America's political & economic Establishment has participated in acts of outright idolatrous worship, followed by drunken dissipation & homoerotic behavior. Alex Jones' video follows:
