Another Daughter of Jael

Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent. He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish. She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. (Judges 5:24-26)

Good Morning America has reported on a young widow with a child who killed an intruder in her home, protecting herself and her child. Here's the best sentence in the whole article:

McKinley told ABC News Oklahoma City affiliate KOCO that she quickly got her 12 gauge, went into her bedroom and got a pistol, put the bottle in the baby’s mouth and called 911.

That lady had her priorities absolutely straight. She armed herself, tended to the child, and then called the authorities. Then she followed through.

When Martin kicked in the door and came after her with the knife, the teen mom shot and killed the 24-year-old. Police are calling the shooting justified.

This 18-year-old mom had been widowed on Christmas day. Nevertheless, she had access to weapons -- her late husband's doing, perhaps -- and she had the mindset to protect her young son.

May God's grace shine upon her home, that both she and her son be found in Christ Jesus.
